Join us for an immersive walking tour through Sydney's iconic City Circle stations, where history, intrigue, and urban legends intertwine. This tour will take you through the stations while uncovering their hidden stories, including ghost platforms, wartime secrets and visionary transport plans.
Highlights:
The Historic Stations: Begin your journey at Central Station, a hub of activity and architectural grandeur. Learn about its construction in the early 20th century and how it became a vital part of Sydney's transport network.
Ghost Platforms: Explore the eerie tales surrounding platforms long abandoned. Discover the stories of the so-called 'ghost platforms' that once served as bustling transit points but now lie in shadow, often the subject of urban legends and ghostly sightings.
The Army Riot at Central Station, where echoes of the past still resonate. Hear about the 1917 army riot, a significant event fueled by the turmoil of World War I, and how it impacted the city and its transport system.
World War II Air Raid Shelters: As we move to Wynyard Station, delve into its role during World War II as an air raid shelter. Discover how these underground spaces served as safe havens for civilians during air raids, and hear personal stories from those who sought refuge below ground.
Bradfield's Vision: Learn about the visionary work of engineer John Bradfield, whose foresight laid the groundwork for Sydney's rail system. Explore his innovative designs and how they shaped the future of urban transport in the city
What to Expect: A guided walking tour talking the city circle to all station where we discuss the history and secrets of Central, Museum, St James, Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall. The tour will be only in public areas.
Meeting Point: Platform 1 entrance Central Station, your guide Marc Cote will be there wearing yellow hi-vis.
Weather: The tour is entirely under cover, rain or shine you will be dry.
Tipping: The tour was created based on weeks of research and knowledge built over years, these tours are supported entirely by your tips. Please give what you feel the tour is worth supporting your guide and also giving forward to the community who can enjoy these tours also.
Note: You will need a valid Opal card/ debit card or credit card to travel on the city circle. Train line disruptions can affect the tour going ahead, if the City Circle is not running the tour will be postponed
