About the film

Station to Station (2013) is a kinetic or moving light sculpture in the form of a train that travelled across North America, from New York City to San Francisco, in September 2013. It made ten stops along the way for a series of site-specific happenings in New York, Pittsburgh, St Paul, Chicago, Kansas City, Lamy New Mexico, Winslow Arizona, Barstow, Los Angeles and Oakland.

62 one-minute films make up the resulting feature film. It takes viewers on a journey from the Atlantic to the Pacific, capturing dynamic moments, exchanges and performances by an ever-changing creative community encompassing art, music, food, literature and film.

This film screening is presented alongside the Sydney International Art Series exhibition Doug Aitken: New Era.
