In late 2021, Canberra Health Services commissioned local artists Marzena Wasikowska, Dion Georgopoulos and Waratah Lahy to make works in response to the care provided to COVID-19 patients by Canberra Health Services. The same year, Ellis Hutch was awarded an Arts ACT Creative Residency with the ACT Health Directorate. The artists visited local testing, contact tracing and vaccination sites. In full PPE they entered this extraordinary workplace for a moment and captured the complexity, the scale and the detail of the experience. In their different ways each chose to represent the health workers as heroes, for their competence, their commitment to the community and their positivity.
