Sydney is an amazing city where the built and natural environments compete with and complement each other, providing wonderful vistas for landscape paintings.
Kevin McKay inspires you to find unique subjects in your backyard, down the street, or on a short journey to a park or harbour-side location. He provides foundational instructions in the studio, teaching you how to construct a painting from photo references using oils and acrylic paints. You will then learn how to draw and paint quick studies within the landscape on excursions to the city and surrounding suburbs, helping you develop your painting skills with reference to the intimate and public places that you already know yet are waiting to be discovered more deeply.
Kevin gives demonstrations of how to structure a composition with correct proportion and perspective, colour-mixing and paint-layering, and embraces the challenge of capturing the fleeting effects of light. This course will benefit the novice as well as those with previous painting experience.
