Helix Collective's Fireside Chat
Speakers
Gary Miller is a full-time software engineer and part-time computer scientist, or is that full-time computer scientist and part-time software engineer. For Gary the 'X' which the Helix venture studios is making happen, is the future of Software Engineering.
Jeeva Suresh is a Helix OG, for Jeeva the 'X' is the future of startups and venture studio driven business structures.
Harrison Dell from Cadena Legal helped created Helix's venture studio structure, he has deep expertise in structuring startups and is one of Australia's preeminent tax lawyers in relation to cryptocurrency.
The chat will be moderated by Sam Hancock (Design Lead) and/or James Lobbes (Team Growth & Delivery Performance Lead).
Topic
As a venture studio, with skin in the game, Helix has been materially involved in getting a host of clients successfully from zero-to-one. We continuously refine and reinvest in our core-tech, business structures and are active about the type of work we pursue.
This is not a sales pitch.
This fireside chat is with a couple of Helix's UX, dev and strategy humans about the future of the software industry and start-ups.
From a tech perspective we are actively working on no/low-code tools so that AppDev is done by everyone. At the same time we are trying to give software engineering a much needed kick up the b'hind to move it from the current fad / fashion driven alchemy to a true engineering discipline.
From a business structures perspective Helix has an interesting model around reduced fees for equity and how we gain and distribute equity to members of the collective. We are happy to have a broad ranging chat. Including sharing your journey which brought us to the current business structure, perspective and efforts to fix dysfunction areas of the industry & our insights comparing equity and token based funding.
If you are a Founder, UX practitioner or Programmer just getting into the industry or a serial investor, designer or veteran engineer with that uneasy feeling that things should be different this is the chat for you.
