Wanna Dance for Sydney Solstice by City People & Studio Chris Fox is an interactive art installation and dance performance series staged throughout the afternoon and winter evenings of Sydney Solstice, celebrating Sydney arts and culture. 

Wanna Dance invites the community to bring the city to life through art, music and dance in one of the city's distinctive urban laneways.

An innovative collaboration between some of Sydney's leading designers, prop-makers, sound artists, choreographers and dancers, Wanna Dance enables people to dance in our public spaces and reactivate our city.

Protruding from the rear of a heritage building in a Haymarket laneway are three exhaust vents unlike anything you've ever seen.

Lights and sound from these brightly coloured vents beckon you closer. You step under a vent, the lights swirl to action, the music swells and the floor is yours. By day, discover Tai Chi, workout sessions and ballroom step-throughs. By night one of Sydney's best DJs leads you through a roaming curated mix of C-Pop, K-Pop and other popular dance tracks from around the world.

Wanna Dance also features six nights of curated dance performances and demos by some of Sydney's most exciting new dance artists. From street dance to contemporary, hip-hop to ballroom, it's winter in Sydney 2021. And we all wanna dance.
