Led by experienced facilitators across 2 of the City of Sydney's purpose-built creative studios, this short course is a great introduction to laser-cut printmaking for fine art applications.
Over 2 Thursdays in November, you'll be guided to prepare and print a laser-cut wood block.
Day 1 (16 November) Work in the Darling Square Library Makerspace to learn how to prepare your image and cut your wood block using our state-of-the-art Trotec laser cutter.
Day 2 (23 November) Regroup in the Pine Street printmaking studio to print your laser cut block onto professional quality printmaking paper.
What you'll learn
Basic digital design using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
An introduction to processes such as photo editing, retouching and filters to prepare your image for laser-cutting
Basic laser-cutting skills
Basic printmaking skills
What you'll take home
Professional laser cut printing plate (up to a maximum size of 15cm x 20cm)
Your own editioned print on artist quality printmaking paper
Details
Cost: $80 full / $64 concession per person
Bookings and class limited - bookings are essential
Suitable for ages 16+
Experience level: beginner workshop with no required knowledge
Wear enclosed shoes and no loose-fitting clothing or jewellery
Suitable for complete beginners, full instruction provided on materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures.

Eligibility for concession price: the ticket purchaser must hold a valid NSW pensioner, senior or full-time student card. Valid proof of concession to be shown in advance or in person at the workshop. If valid proof of concession is not provided, the full rate will be required to be paid.
Bookings can be cancelled up to 7 days before the date of the workshop. Cancellations made within 7 days of the course starting will not be refunded. See terms and conditions here
