Have you always wanted to shoot black-and-white film, process it and print from negatives? Or are you itching to get back into the darkroom to make your own hand-crafted, black-and-white enlargements? This course provides expert tuition in all aspects of traditional analogue photography as well as alternative techniques. Sarah Mosca delivers a comprehensive program to demystify the alchemical processes of black-and-white photography, leading you from film processing to photograms and fine-art printing. You will also get to know your analogue camera and its functions, including film and shutter speed, aperture, exposure, composition and settings for various lighting conditions. This inspiring course will expand on and develop your visual language, give you technical competency, and lay the foundations for creative expression within the conventions and history of photography. Suitable for total beginners and those with some experience in black-and-white photography. Bring your own 35mm single lens reflex film camera, or borrow one from NAS. Sarah Mosca is an artist and Photography lecturer. She has worked at institutions including the University of Technology Sydney, UNSW Art and Design and the National Art School in both postgraduate and undergraduate programs. Mosca shows extensively in Australia including recent exhibitions, A Novella, Sarah Cottier Gallery, Performing Drawing, National Gallery of Australia, From Here to There: Australian Art and Walking, Lismore Regional Gallery, Care, Interstate Projects, New York, Porous Space in Vienna and the Australian Centre for Photography. She is represented by Sarah Cottier Gallery.
