Learn basic hand-building techniques to make small pots, vases or cups in this fun 4-week course for complete beginners or students with limited experience.

Under the guidance of our expert tutor, explore ceramic coil work, slab, pinch pots and surface treatments. If you're a continuing student or have some ceramics experience, you'll be supported to develop your skills by taking more complex approaches to your work.

  • Week 1: Pinch work

  • Week 2: Coiling

  • Week 3: Slab building

  • Week 4: Glazing

By the end of the course, you'll have finished either a large work or a collection of smaller pieces ready for firing.

Small class size: up to 10 students.

Level: designed for beginner level students.

Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes (trousers recommended).

Bring: please bring your own apron and towel.

All pieces created in the course must be no more than 25 cubic centimetres. Your works will be fired and ready to collect around 4 weeks after the course. We are unable to fire pieces made outside of the course.
