Clay is a fascinating material. A lump on a spinning wheel formed by your own hands can become a useful and beautiful work of art.
Our expert ceramicist will help you build your skills to construct clay forms at the wheel and by hand.
In this 8-week course, you'll create functional and decorative objects like bowls and pots, that are a pleasure to hold, look at and use.
Learn hand building and throwing, pressing and coiling, as well as how to apply slips, glazes, and other surface treatments to make your pieces look more polished and professional.
Full instruction is provided on best materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures.
All pieces created in the course must be no more than 25 cubic centimetres. Your works will be fired and ready to collect after the course.
We're unable to fire pieces made outside of the course.
Intimate class size: maximum 10 students
Level: designed for beginner level students
Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes
Bring: yourself - all materials provided
Bookings can be cancelled up to 7 days before the start of your course. Cancellations made after this will not be refunded. For more information see our terms and conditions.
We aim to present inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs please contact Jana Hawkins-Andersen, programs coordinator on 02 9265 9789 or jhawkinsandersen@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au
