Connect Sydney is a City of Sydney program, funded by the Department of Communities and Justice.

The program aims to build the capacity of community and not-for-profit organisations through the provision of free skills and governance training.

This training is primarily for organisations that support and provide services to children, young people, families and communities experiencing or at risk of vulnerability within the City of Sydney local government area.

Connect Sydney: Foundation for Building Trauma Awareness

This 1-day workshop will provide you with foundational skills that will enhance your understanding of trauma, the impacts of trauma on all aspects of life and the coping mechanisms formed in response to trauma.

Learning through a trauma-informed lens you will gain strength-based skills that are applicable to all, vital for every person, working in youth, community, health,  education, disability and legal services, working in government, non-government, public or private sectors.

By participating in this workshop you will:

  • Develop an understanding of the types, prevalence, and impacts of trauma

  • Understand the neurobiology of trauma and the use of adaptive responses

  • Apply the principles of trauma-informed practice to develop strategies that enhance safety, minimise re-traumatisation and support recovery.

This one-day training workshop will be delivered face to face on Wednesday, 30 June 2021 from 9.30am - 4.30pm at the Ideas Space, Darling Square Library, Darling Square. Due to limited spaces please nominate 1 - 2 staff from your organisation to register for this workshop.

The training will be delivered by Blue Knot Foundation.
