Are you keen to improve your ability to see and draw the human body from the privacy of your own home?
This dynamic drawing course lets you work directly with live models in an online studio, within a safe digital environment and an intimate group of students. Fran O'Neill teaches you to develop your observational drawing skills in form, volume and gestural awareness.
The scale of drawings will range from moderate to large as the course progresses and Fran guides you in examining the interaction of the figure in the picture plane, along with strategies to explore further pictorial elements of drawing.
She introduces you to master artists from past and present times in a deeply thoughtful manner, sharing the wisdom she has gained over many years as a practicing artist.
Fran works with students to solve the issues as they encounter them and she orients her teaching to both the needs of the individual and the group, providing insightful critiques and a final review at the culmination of the course.
Students with limited drawing experience are welcome and the course is also suitable for artists with years of practice who want strong guidance and direction in their drawing practice and real models to work with.
Course delivery
Fran's online studio course is taught with Zoom and takes advantage of the full range of tools that this program offers. She is present in the online studio for the whole session and she responds directly to students' questions with live demonstrations and discussions. There are live models to draw in every week of the course and they will be partially clothed to protect their privacy in a digital environment.
We are also using Padlet in this course, Padlet is a web application that allows users to post information and images on a digital wall.
