See the work of Archibald-Prize winning artist Blak Douglas in the free exhibition Face Value on the 'Reconciliation Wall' at the Parliament of NSW.
The exhibition showcases several portraits that Blak has previously entered into the Archibald Prize - including two artworks selected as finalists. Each larger-than-life portrait measures approximately two metres in width and height, paying tribute to the cultural contributions and achievements of prominent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander public figures.
Blak Douglas is a proud Aboriginal man of Dhungutti and Irish heritage. Originally trained in graphic design and illustration, the self-taught painter has gone on to earn great acclaim including as winner of the Kilgour Prize in 2019 and the Archibald Prize in 2022.
With a bold and distinctive visual language, Blak's work offers incisive cultural and political commentary about what it means to be a First Nations person in modern Australia.
Face Value is being hosted at NSW Parliament by the Hon Ben Franklin MLC.
Visit the free exhibition at NSW Parliament House on weekdays, 9am to 5pm between 4 February and 27 March 2025. Access is to the left of the building via the security gatehouse.
