Family Day welcomes all. Come along, let's create together!
Family Day occurs on the first Saturday of every month during the Biennale of Sydney, offering a variety of creative workshops and activities including yoga, design, upcycling and making.
Children, parents, carers and friends are invited to join in one or all of the activities that explore place, space and art. All experiences are inspired by a desire to share knowledge and explore materials with those that are closest to us.
Family Day Program
Kids Yoga | Beth Borowsky
Join Beth Borowsky for a kids-only (4-8 years old) yoga session which will combine traditional yoga techniques with breathing exercises, stories and mindfulness. It encourages children to discover their inner potential in a relaxed environment and to feel good about themselves, both inside and out.
Upcycle Factory | Defy Design
Learn about how to recycle plastic with Defy Design and get involved in their portable mini-factory. Clean, sort, shred and mould a piece of plastic waste to transform it into a useful recycled plastic object!
Defy Design's mission aims to remove the traditional barriers of plastic recycling and manufacturing by making it locally accessible, affordable and reliable. Defy Design empower councils, businesses and the community to establish new systems, practices and behaviours that create a circular life cycle for plastic in Australia - participate to be part of the process.
Interpret this | Nadia Odlum
'Interpret this' is part game, part drawing exercise, and part choreographic method. With playful and experimental making and movement, participants explore connections between the visual arts, dance, and architectural mapping. 'Interpret this' has been developed and added to over five years through workshops with diverse audiences of all ages. In this iteration, young people will enter into a process of open communication and exchange, where they will invent new ways of sharing and processing information - through and with the body.
At the end of each day a performer will be invited into the space to transform the drawings into a movement piece.
