Council invites you to the Green your streets Wishart event in your local park to help green your suburb and cool your home. Come along to be entertained, learn and help plant street and park trees to make your neighbourhood cooler, shadier and more attractive. Meet your neighbours and hear about the great work of local community groups.
Activities on offer include tree planting, Welcome to Country, wildlife display, live music, sausage sizzle and coffee, kids' activities, free native plants and local community displays. There's something for the whole family.
Council is committed to keeping Brisbane the cleanest and greenest capital city in Australia. Your neighbourhood will greatly benefit from more street and park trees, providing footpath shading, improved community health and wellbeing, and increased property values.
As a thank you for participating on the day you will receive free native plants for your garden.
Wear sturdy covered shoes, hat and sun protection, and bring along a re-fillable drink bottle. Street tree holes will be dug beforehand and all tools provided.
Streets to be planted:
- Andree Place, Bellbird Crescent, Boyanda Street, Coora Street, Hummingbird Crescent, Hurlstone Street, Kavanagh Road, Kensington Place, Lapage Place, Lexington Place, Lonsdale Place, Lorikeet Place, Magenta Place, Maibry Street, Mandy Street, Michelle Crescent, Mindona Street, Mockingbird Court, Rosella Court, Saint Clair Crescent, Sandpiper Place, Tyrrell Street, Vicki Place, Westminster Way.
Location: Meet at Wishart Community Park, Maibry Street, Wishart.
