Parents and carers will be able to talk to child trauma specialist in psychotherapy Ruth Wraith, Order of Australia medal recipient, who received her award for service to community health, particularly for the treatment of children recovering from trauma.
At this session you will learn to understand common reactions of children and young people to challenging or overwhelming experiences. The session will also provide practical information to help you respond to the needs of your child through traumatic events including the current pandemic.
You will learn about:
types of stress and trauma
grief and loss
reactions of children and young people aged 0-5, 6-11,12-18 and 18-25
children with disability
how to help children and young people cope with trauma
impact of media
how to look after yourself so that you can support them
when to seek help.
You will also gain access to free booklet developed by Red Cross. Online via Zoom. Registrations essential.If you have any questions please contact:
