Hunar presents, Art/Conflict 2022, at the University of Technology Sydney from Wednesday 16 November to Friday 18 November.

This unmissable three day series of talks brings together artists, art workers, activists and academics to discuss - how do we respond to conflict, crisis and colonisation through the arts? And how can our cultural and creative responses begin to heal us?

This event foregrounds the importance of creative work in producing imaginative, humorous, provocative and unpredictable responses to conflicts, both past and present. The global and the local come together in these series of talks.

Who will be there?

Speakers include:

  • Badiucao, a prolific and political Chinese Australian artist, who has faced serious challenges of government censorship

  • Djon Mundine, esteemed Bandjalang curator, author, public speaker and artist

  • Megan Cope, renowned Quandamooka artist and co-founder of the collective proppaNow, recent winners of the prestigious Jane Lombard Prize

  • Marcelo Brodsky, prominent Buenos-Aires based photographer and visual artist and activist

  • Sara Nina, public artist and political activist from Brazil's Aparecidos Politicos

  • Omaid Sharifi and Kabir Mokamel, co-founders of ArtLords of Afghanistan, public artists and activists

  • Elyas Alavi, Hazara Afghan Australian poet and artist

An associated visual arts exhibition, 'Missing Time', at UTS Gallery, will be free and open to the public from Thursday 17 November through to Thursday 15 December.

For the full program, visit the Hunar website.

Tickets available through Humanitix for all 3 days or per day, and tiered pricing options for students, unwaged, and online attendance.

Proudly supported by City of Sydney, the NSW Government through Create NSW, UTS Social Impact and Settlement Services International.
