"For those who for any length of time have followed Joe Chindamo's a remarkable career as one of Australia's preeminent jazz musicians, it surely comes as no surprise to discover that his increasing forays into composing for the concert hall are reaping rich rewards; pieces characterised by his inimitable combination of knowledge, subtlety, wit and consummate artistry."
Brett Dean Composer, Conductor, Violist – "Joe Chindamo is closer to the model of the complete musician of Bach's time - composer, performer, improviser - than classical music's modern custodians. Chindamo's range of reference is encyclopedic and his art tender; his virtuosity never hectors but disarms. It is the music of seduction."
Anna Goldsworthy, Pianist, Author Joe Chindamo has long been regarded as one of Australia's leading musicians. As a jazz pianist, he has produced 23 CDs and toured the world with some of the genre's most respected exponents, Michael & Randy Brecker, Larry Coryell, Lee Konitz, Ernie Watts, Sheila E. and particularly the US drummer, Billy Cobham, whom Chindamo worked with for over 10 years.
Beginning studies on accordion at the of 6, Chindamo switched to piano at the relatively late age of 16. At 21, soon after graduating from Melbourne State College (majoring in Music and Mathematics), his versatility and precocious skills made him a favorite in the recording studio, particularly amongst film composers.
His playing is featured on more than 60 films, including Pharlap, Man from Snowy River, The Sound of One Hand Clapping and Evil Angels.
