Join us at South Eveleigh Skate and Scooter Park to attend one of Totem Skate's FREE sessions.
Workshops are focused on inclusion, participation, and confidence-building while incorporating the fundamental movement skills considered to be the building blocks for movement.
Totem Skate believes in having a go, so students are encouraged to go at their own pace under the guidance of our coaches. By combining both the physical and creative elements of skateboarding, Totem gives students the opportunity to try out and practice a wide and unique variety of experiences to build self-esteem in a fun, safe, and supported environment.
Beginner sessions
The beginner session is based on developing and improving the foundations of your skate skills.
Beginner students will learn:
The safest and easiest way to get going
Skateboard related stretches
Skate etiquette - footpath and Skatepark navigation/rules
Correct standing, stopping and falling techniques
How to control the board
What makes a safe skating environment
How to make safe decisions while skateboarding
Looking after your equipment
Some basic tricks and the progression of tricks
Intermediate mentoring progression sessions
The mentoring progression session is based on focusing your attention on key areas to progress your skateboarding safety while getting the most out of your environment. It is perfect for students that can comfortably skate and are starting to push the boundaries of new tricks such as ollies, drop in's, heelflips, kickflips, grinds, boardslides, etc.
What intermediate (Mentoring Progression) students will learn:
Skateboard related stretches
Skate etiquette - footpath and Skatepark navigation/rules refresh
What makes a safe skating environment
How to make safe decisions while skateboarding
Maintaining your equipment
The progression of tricks and how to get the most out of your environment
Workshop schedule
9:00 - 9:45 am Beginner session #1
10:00 - 10:45 Beginner session #2
11:00 - 12:00: Intermediate (mentoring progression) session

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED: Professional grade safety gear, helmets, and skateboards are provided at the workshop.
