Darling Square will celebrate the release of Kung Fu Panda 4 with a fleet of activities running every weekend during school holidays from 13 to 28 April. Visitors to the precinct can participate in a scavenger hunt, join a kids kung fu class, snap a photo with main character Po, watch spectacular fire dancing and listen to live DJ sets.
This autumn, for the first time in almost a decade, comedy icon Jack Black returns to his role as Po, the world's most unlikely kung fu master. A hilarious, butt-kicking new chapter in DreamWorks Animation's action-comedy franchise Kung Fu Panda 4, the film follows Po on his wide-eyed adventures in ancient China, whose love of kung fu is matched only by an insatiable appetite.
Join the 'Hunt for the Dragon Warrior', a scavenger hunt that will take participants around Darling Square in search of all five heroes Po, Dad, Mr Ping, Shen and Shifu, in order to discover their secret letter and decipher the secret word to receive a special gift. Hunt cards can be collected from the cart outside the Exchange Building before each hunt, with prizes collected at the same place once the quest is complete. Hunts will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm.
At 10am each Saturday children can learn Po's kung fu moves at kids kung fu classes. The classes will start with a warm up and stretch then move into a Chinese martial arts class combining the principles of kung fu with physical movement. Classes are free and open to all to join.
Catch Po roving the precinct from 11am to 2pm each Saturday and Sunday. Take a selfie with the unlikely kung fu master, practise your kung fu moves with him or maybe share a snack from one of the many delicious retailers at Darling Square.
From 6-9pm on Friday and Saturday, catch live DJ sets in the square. At 7pm each Saturday, Darling Square will host mesmerising fire dancers, incorporating theatrical dance and martial arts with fire twirling to create a spectacular show.
Visitors to Darling Square can eat, drink, shop and discover over 70 retailers in the bustling precinct, relax in the square or explore the cobblestoned laneways. Your cravings are taken care of with a collection of local operators from fast food to fine diners. Plus, there are 20+ shops and services for all your lifestyle needs.
