Landscapes exhibits a collection of work by Michon Collins exploring the interjection between urban and natural landscapes.
Collins paintings evoke a sense of stillness in the urban environment often depicting few human figures. This stillness is contrasted by loud dominating skies which provide the overall focal point.
Collins draws inspiration from the transient beauty of skies that envelope our day to day. She believes sunsets are a top rated TV series offering free subscription for all.
Collins paintings gently question the future vitality of our landscapes and encapsulates her desire to retain the wondrous beauty of our natural world.
Collins primarily works as a psychiatric nurse and registered art therapist. Landscapes is her second exhibition since 2007 where she exhibited a body of work title Engraftment at the Tap Gallery in Sydney.
Collins is largely self-taught but is inspired the work of many Australian artists such as, Arthur Streeton and Hans Heysen.
