Former NASA Astronaut Dr Mary Ellen Weber will share recollections from an outstanding STEM career and offer her insights into the 'new space' era of commercial space.
As one of NASA's youngest ever astronauts, Weber logged 450 space hours as a veteran of two space flights. In this talk, she will recount experiences from her 1995 flight aboard Discovery to launch a communications satellite and 2000 flight aboard Atlantis to advance construction on the International Space Station.
In 2012, she founded STELLAR Strategies, LLC, to provide consulting services and strategies for operations in high-stakes business ventures, technology communications and legislative strategy. She is currently a member of the Committee on Innovation and Technology for the NASA Advisory Council.
Over a decade with NASA, Weber also participated in critical launch, landing and test operations at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, and held senior roles in the areas of procurement and legislative affairs. She began her career as a chemical engineer and holds a PhD in physical chemistry and Masters of Business Administration.
Tickets are free, but bookings are essential.
Powerhouse will be open late especially for the event.
