If you plan to work in any establishment in NSW that sells or serves alcohol, the government requires you to first complete a Liquor & Gaming NSW approved RSA (Responsible service of alcohol) course. OLI is an approved provider of this course.
You will learn about the following topics:
- Follow the principles of responsible service of alcohol.
- Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.
- Assess alcohol affected customers and identify those to whom sale or service must be refused.
- Refuse to provide alcohol.
Entry requirements
Students must be at least 16 years of age. Participants must also:
- Present photo ID.
- Provide their USI.
- Have sufficient English language skills to complete the course.
Training and assessment
Students will be taught by industry professionals and receive learning materials which they keep for future reference. Assessment is via written questions, verbal questions, case study and simulated environment assessment tasks.
Certificate
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 - Provide responsible service of alcohol.
Students will also receive an interim certificate. This certificate is valid for 90 days and allows you to work in alcohol service or sale immediately. After 90 days, to obtain the RSA competency card, the interim RSA certificate is to be taken to a registered Services NSW office to apply. The RSA card is valid for 5 years. You must show it to work in any licenced establishment.
The course cost is usually $170 which includes the NSW Liquor & Gaming card fee of $90 but Youth Services have subsidised by 50% to give you the support you need.
