London-based Australian pianist Rob Hao gives the Australian premiere tour of Sydney-based composer Nicholas Vines' extravagant fifty-minute portrayal of contemporary hipster subculture: Indie Ditties.
This fun-filled yet thought-provoking contemporary work is programmed alongside a performance of Frederic Chopin's legendary Ballade No. 1 in G minor, a selection of Impromptus by Franz Schubert and other works by both composers, exploring some of the most lyrical music in the piano repertoire.
This is a thrilling solo piano recital that surveys composers whose works reveal incredibly imaginative, personal and engaged musical voices for their respective times - from the nineteenth century and our modern day.
Programme:
Nicholas Vines - Indie Ditties (2017)
Fryderyk Chopin - Three Mazurkas Op. 63
Franz Schubert - 'Erstarrung' from Winterreise D911 (transcribed by Franz Liszt)
