Rob Schumacher is a talented interpreter of landscape. He paints the natural world in a direct manner. Landscapes, seascapes and weather, in the plein air tradition popularised by the Impressionists.

There is a very particular light in Australia. The artist believes that atmosphere, created by light, can trigger feelings. Feelings that can be as vivid as an aroma or fragrance.
Some paintings are from photos taken from the low cockpit of a sea kayak. Some are sketches created in the bush at campsites or while travelling.
Trained as a visual artist and educator, he has worked within many fields of the visual arts. He has had numerous exhibitions and commissions.
This is his latest solo show.
