Explore the fascinating world of coding through a vibrant art workshop for kids at the Darling Square Library Makerspace.
Creative Coding is a great way to introduce your kids to fundamental coding skills, where the goal is to make something expressive rather than functional. In this intermediate workshop, participants will learn how to design their own code art using number lines and use the magic of code to create a printable artwork they can take home.
*Please note: This workshop is part 2 in our Creative Coding for kids workshop series. It is strongly advised that students complete Creative Coding 1: Code and create before joining this workshop.
What you'll learn:
Our experienced facilitator Jared Berghold will guide you through coding to make your very own computer-generated artwork!
This workshop features a slightly more advanced project for kids who have attended part 1 of our Creative Coding for kids workshops - this is a great next step for budding coders!
What you'll make and have access to:
All materials provided to create your artwork
Computing devices: high-powered laptops
A hard copy postcard size (6' x 4') print of your artwork on photo paper to take home
Details:
Cost: $10 for each child
Bookings and class size: maximum 10 children - bookings essential
Suitable for: children aged 8 to 12 years
Experience level: suitable for beginners, basic keyboard skills recommended
Please bring a USB if you wish to save your digital files at the end of the class
About the facilitator: The workshop will be led by Jared Berghold. Jared is a creative coder who has been making art with code for over 15 years. Jared co-created the interactive artwork Always Coming, Always Going for Vivid Sydney in 2017 and later founded the Creative Coding Studio: www.creativecoding.studio
