In 2025, the talented team at Lakespeare are partnering with The Q (Queanbeyan Performing Arts) to bring another summer season of FREE outdoor Shakespeare to audiences around Canberra. This year's performances will be of Shakespeare's shortest, sharpest, and bloodiest play - Macbeth.
Watch as they turn the performance space into the eerie beauty of the Scottish Highlands as the infamous witches weave their dark prophecies and Macbeth rises to power amidst a whirlwind of murder, secrets, and the occult, with a dynamic cast (and maybe a few audience members) who will bring the play to life.
Lakespeare is an independent theatre company dedicated to making theatre accessible to Canberrans and visitors to Canberra. Lakespeare believes that live theatre is an exhilarating, shared experience. They make theatre accessible by bringing the experience and language right to you. Due to their free park performances, audiences receive an insight into Shakespeare they've never had before. They are surprised and delighted that something 400 years old can be this fresh and fun.
Lakespeare encourage audience members of all ages and love introducing younger audience members to the joys of watching Shakespeare. Parents should note that this production is faithful to the original text and contains some adult themes (battles, murder and the like).
