Develop your painting and sketching skills in a fun and social environment.
Join these classes led by our volunteer teachers. Our art teachers believe that everyone is a painter and that drawing is a powerful medium for self-expression. We will share fundamental sketching techniques for creating captivating portraits. These hands-on sessions will kick off indoors at our community centre and sometimes outdoors in the parks nearby. Each session features a different theme to ignite your creativity. Some days, we'll venture outdoors, exploring the streets and landscapes near Elizabeth Bay. You can draw inspiration from the city around you.
These classes cater to all skill levels, whether you're a beginner taking your first artistic steps or an experienced artist seeking fresh perspectives.
We invite you to become part of our bi-weekly sketching events and embark on a captivating visual diary journey. Our teachers will be your guide, helping you unlock your artistic potential and discover the world of self-expression through the art of sketching. Don't miss this opportunity to let your creativity flourish! Bookings essential.
We aim to present inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs, please contact Bishop, community services worker, on 02 9265 9133.
The City of Sydney's Reginald Murphy Community Centre is open Monday to Friday, from 9:30am to 3:30pm. There is a table tennis and snooker table, computers, wifi, books to borrow, a piano to play and sewing machines to use, and tea and coffee, all for free.
A weekly community lunch is held on Wednesdays and Thursdays at midday for $10.
Everyone is welcome.
