Mums 4 Refugees Refugee Week Event - Stories of Sisterhood from Kabul to Sydney with Craig Andrew Foster AM and Tamkin Hakim
Mums 4 Refugees, a charity member-based organisation of Mothers and Carers, allies to people seeking asylum and people from a refugee background, is joining forces with Craig Foster AM, Tamkin Hakim and #Plateitforward in a night of reflection and hope in a post-election era.
This Refugee Week, on Wednesday June 22 between 6.30pm-9.00pm, 'Stories of Sisterhood from Kabul to Sydney' will be a night of storytelling about Womanhood, escaping the Taliban, and solidarity.
Craig Foster AM, otherwise known as Foz, is an Australian retired soccer player, human rights activist and sports analyst for the Stan Sport streaming service in Australia.
Tamkin Hakim is a Health and well-being adviser who arrived in Australia as a refugee when she was a young girl. In the past year, Tamkin has galvanised her community to respond to the Afghanistan Crisis and was a key participant in the rescue of 15 Afghan young women.
On the night, Mums 4 Refugees will also be collecting beauty products to provide care packages for recently arrived refugee women, and attendees are encouraged to bring products for donation.
All funds raised will allow Mums 4 Refugees to continue supporting people on temporary visas to access lifesaving medication and emergency relief.
Mums 4 Refugees has been serving the refugee and asylum seekers community at the grassroots level for years, operating on a volunteer basis and working with over 40 agencies to provide services to the community.
Dulce Munoz, National Convenor of Mums 4 Refugees, said, 'We are proud of our agile response in times of crisis, and during the past two years our network in Sydney supported 80 families with emergency food relief, over 500 new school bags and 100+ people supported with their life saving medication. With over 7000 active members all around Australia we reject the cruel and disrespectful treatment of refugees and asylum seekers.'
