Join us for an in-depth look at our often overlooked backyard superheroes - Australian bees! Backyard beekeeping does not always mean keeping bees in a hive. At this hands-on workshop you'll build a DIY bee-home, identify common species, and learn how to create welcoming habitat for different types of bees living in or visiting your backyard or balcony. This no-fuss form of 'backyard beekeeping' is easy, fun, and can assist Australian bee populations and increase Brisbane's biodiversity. All materials supplied.
Note: Brisbane City Council residents may be eligible to collect a Free Native Plants voucher at this workshop. For more information visit Council's Free Native Plants program and bring your rates notice or other document to the workshop.
Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent. Please bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site. Note: activities are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
