Intimate morning meditation sessions inside the Lindy Lee exhibition.
Through a series of short exercises and discussions, you will be guided through a meditative process while delving into the close relationship between mindfulness and many of the themes of Lindy Lee's exhibition.
What to expect
Sessions will be guided by a guest expert who will bring their own approaches and techniques in response to artworks in the exhibition. The intimate sessions have a maximum of 18 participants and offer exclusive access to the exhibition before opening hours.
No prior experience in mindfulness or meditation required. Suitable for ages 16+.
Please arrive at the doors to the George Street entrance by 8am for an 8.15am start.

After the meditation session, head up to the MCA Cafe for a vegan chia fruit breakfast bowl and choice of barista coffee or tea from the MCA Cafe, included in your ticket price. Each event is hosted by Steve Pozel, a mindfulness educator and long-time friend of Lindy Lee. Pozel has worked with leading creatives across design, craft, architecture and visual arts over the last 30 years. In more recent years, he has explored the intersection between creativity, innovation and mindfulness within the creative arts, educational and corporate sectors.
Subhana Barzaghi: Saturday 21 November
Subhana Barzaghi has been practising meditation for over 40 years. She has studied all around the world and is a founding member of the Bodhi Farm community in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, where she has lived for 20 years, as well as the founder of the Kuan Yin Meditation Centre in Lismore. Barzaghi is a senior resident teacher of the Sydney Zen Centre and a guiding teacher for the Melbourne Zen Group and leads Zen sessions. Barzaghi also leads retreats in the Vipassana Insight Meditation tradition at a variety of centres in Australia and New Zealand, and is a director and trainer for the Mindfulness & Compassion Teacher Training course.
Timothea Goddard: Saturday 28 November
Timothea Goddard has been practising yoga and meditation (in the Vipassana tradition) since her early twenties, having also spent some years practising Zen and Aikido. She is a pioneer in bringing Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to Australia over the past 16 years. She is founding director of Openground, an Australia-wide network of clinicians and teachers, and the Mindfulness Training Institute (Australia and New Zealand), a not-for-profit which offers teacher training and silent retreats.
This event is presented as part of the Lindy Lee: Moon in a Dew Drop exhibition, showing at the MCA from 2 October 2020. Free entry.
