Nothing brings people together like good music! In celebration of National Vinyl Record Day, South Bank Parklands has teamed up with Rocking Horse Records, Queensland's oldest and largest independent record store, to throw a special vinyl record market and listening party.

Head to South Bank Piazza between 12pm-8pm to cruise a special record market with more than 30 stalls and pick up a vintage find or new favourite to add to your collection. There'll be thousands of vinyls on sale from some of Australia's most revered record buyers and a cosy, retro living room vibe complete with live vinyl DJ set from Ben Ely (Regurgitator) and DJ Elnorto.

Then from 4.30pm, experience Brisbane's first Open DJ set. Hosted by Ben Ely (Regurgitator) and Patience Hodgson (The Grates), nominate your favourite track and share it with the crowd.

At 6pm, the Vinyl Listening Party kicks off. You also have the chance to don a pair of wireless headphones to get lost in an array of excellent tracks. After each song, a Panel will run an open discussion to talk through the elements of the track and answer your burning questions. Chaired by Ben Ely and Patience Hidgson, the Panel features:

  • Lissie Turner (AKA Mel Bampton), Former Triple J Presenter, Creator of 'Like A Version', Author of 'Off the Record'
  • Malcolm Wood, Brisbane Jazz Club
  • Luke Henery, Violent Soho

Entry to the market and listening party is free, so gather the music lovers in your life and head down to South Bank Parklands on Friday 12 August from 12pm to celebrate #NationalVinylDay.

Bill's Burgers will be slinging hot dishes and The Plough Inn will have all your beverage needs from 12pm.
