Forty percent of us will develop cancer in our lifetime. What if we found and treated cancer early? How many lives could it save? How much burden would it take off our healthcare system?
Join us for a special conversation between Sally-Ann Williams, CEO of Cicada Innovations, and Cyriac Roeding, Co-Founder and CEO of Earli, as we discuss how biotechnology could transform cancer detection and treatment in the future.
This in-person event will have Cyriac joining us virtually from California, and 3 successful biotech startups will be presenting their innovation in-person. At the end of the event, you will have a chance to network with our broader deep-tech and health tech community.
About Cyriac Roeding
Cyriac Roeding is an entrepreneur and investor who builds companies on the intersection of the physical, engineering and digital worlds. He has previously built three companies, and is an investor in more than 20 startups and venture funds including a16z, Bond, Founders Fund, Greylock, IVP, ZhenFund. He was named a World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer and a Fortune 40 Under 40 Mobilizer.
About Earli
US-based Biotech engineering company Earli is developing 'Synthetic Biopsy', a unique technology that forces cancer cells to reveal themselves. Originally from Stanford University, the radically new technique makes cancer produce synthetic biomarkers not normally expressed in the human body. The platform allows clinicians to exactly locate early cancers so they can be targeted and treated.
In 2021, Earli announced a $40 million in Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures, along with coinvestors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sands Capital, and top individuals Jim Breyer, Shlomo Ben-Haim, and Marc Benioff. They are currently conducting Phase 1 clinical trials of their technology at sites in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
This Cicada Innovations event is delivered in partnership with South Eveleigh.
The Visiting Entrepreneur Program is produced by the City of Sydney with partner organisations from the local startup ecosystem. The 2022 edition is kindly supported by Tech Central and the Greater Cities Commission.
