As the weather warms up and we head into the Silly Season, YCK Laneways' latest festival invites Sydneysiders to stay out past their bedtime, get their culture fix, and explore Sydney's premier nightlife precinct.
With support from the City of Sydney, The Night Is Young will see Wednesday and Thursday nights brought to life with a four-week programme of late night cultural events - all taking place within 15 YCK venues.
With all events starting after 8:30pm, The Night Is Young will give office workers the perfect excuse to stay out longer in the city, and it'll also entice broader Sydneysiders into the CBD at a time of the week when they might normally stay home.
With over 50 events taking place over 4 weeks, guests can use the interactive YCK Laneways Map to explore the precinct and find out what's happening in all the venues. Bacardi are also giving intrepid drinkers the chance to earn themselves free cocktails via the Laneway Loyalty function of the map, simply by attending multiple events and trying cocktail specials at different venues.
There will, of course, be plenty of live music taking place around the precinct including Country and Western at Jolene's courtesy of Blake Dantier, The Sazeracs bringing late night Jazz at The Swinging Cat, a decade by decade series of nostalgia parties at Tiva, and all-vinyl DJ Bexy J keeping the dancefloor moving at Papa Gedes to name a few.
Other highlights include: SILY Spray Ups at Since I Left You, where local artists Lotte Smith and Styna will each bring a mural to life over the course of 4 weeks; Porcelain Alice will be enchanting crowds at Stitch bar with her unique blend of burlesque and sideshow; and MYSDIX, a queer mystic from San Francisco, will be reading Tarot at Esteban for anyone who wants a peep into their future.
Check what's on at each venue using the YCK Laneways Map.
Kicking off on Wednesday 25 October and running until Thursday 16 November, all events are completely free. YCK Laneways is a Purple Flag district, and prides itself on being a safe, inclusive, and accessible precinct.
