Globally-renowned jazz and world-music collective, Yemen Blues, will join forces in a free 90-minute digital concert, We Shout Love - Say No To Racism,
Co-presented by Emanuel Synagogue and the Embassy of Israel in Australia, the former Melbourne International Jazz Festival guests will broadcast the live event from Tel Aviv, in a celebration of love and to raise funds to support the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Described by Time Out Chic_ago as 'so unique, so hard to describe, they even go so far as to invent their own language….one of the most exciting bands in world music right now,' Yemen Blues was founded in 2010 by singer and composer, Ravid Kahalani.
Hailing from New York in the US, Uruguay, and Tel Aviv, the result of the group's diverse cultural and musical backgrounds is a powerful energy that mixes Yemenite, West African, Latin and Jazz influences, creating what Ravid describes as 'New Culture Music'.
'Think Prince or Michael Jackson, but Yemenite via Israel and with a hint of James Brown,' reported Miriam Groner from The New York Jewish Week.
