City farm volunteer working bee- Saturday Morning 2020
Come and get hands-on at one of our regular Sydney City Farm working bees.Tasks vary- but can include watering- weeding- plant care- plant propagation- potting and other farm-related activities.At our Saturday morning session we focus on Developing new aspects Sydney City FarmLearn all about producing great veg- developing gardens for flower production and habitat and how to lay out a mini food forestThis is a great opportunity to get involved with Sydney City Farm and meet others in your community.No experience needed. Just bring a can-do attitude and we will show you everything you need to know. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and covered sturdy shoes. You will be required to fill in a quick online wellness check survey the day before your volunteer session or education program.When you arrive at the Sydney City FarmWhen you arrive to volunteer or attend an education session- scan the QR code at the entry and enter your name and phone number or email address. You must do this each time you attend. If you don't have a phone that can do this- ask a staff member to assist you. This is a NSW Health requirement and will be used for contact tracing purposes only if necessary.When at the Sydney City Farmnotify staff if you start to feel unwellmaintain 1.5 m physical distance from all people including staffwash or sanitise your hands on entry and regularly after thatyou are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves. Weaving Circle workshop 2020
Using a variety of grasses- vines and inflorescence for weaving- we will construct a traditional basket or perhaps something more sculptural- limited only by your imagination.You will have the opportunity to make two small baskets- one using a twining technique- and and the other a random weave style. Or perhaps you would like to focus on a larger piece of one style only. The choice is yours. We chat about different grasses- how to prepare for weaving and good places for foraging. Different techniques are discussed and also which style is suitable for specific fibres and grasses.Covid-safe guidelinesThe safety of our visitors- artists- teachers- staff and volunteers is vital.We are observing strict physical distancing and hygiene measures to protect the health of visitors and staff and minimise the spread of Covid-19.These include enhanced cleaning regimes- social distancing and limits on the number of people in the gallery- sanitiser and hand washing facilities and changes to our class sizes.Don't visit if you're unwell or- if in the last 14 days- you have experienced cold or flu symptoms- have returned from overseas or have been to or had contact with someone from a Covid hotspot. Visitors are required to provide their name and contact details on arrival at the Gallery- to support contact tracing in line with NSW Health rules and our Covid-Safe plan.floor markings and signage to help visitors maintain safe distances.There are limits on the number of visitors overall and the Gallery space has its maximum capacity- based on the rule of 1 person per 4 square metres.Please don't touch the artworks.We are also available for private viewings of our exhibitions by prior arrangement.

Family tours at the Museum of Contemporary Art 2020
Be ready to laugh- shimmy and play! Bring the entire family along and participate in this inclusive and collaborative experience. Our artist-educator will guide your family through the exhibition Lindy Lee: Moon in a Dew Drop- stopping at a few key artworks to have a closer look and partake in some creative learning strategies that the whole family will enjoy.To follow Covid-19 safety guidelines- each tour is limited to two families with a maximum of 5 people per family. Reimagining resilience for young people 2020
This is a fun online course that is suitable for every body. From the comfort of your home- you will be facilitated through a range of improvisation exercises designed to give your brain a work-out and build present moment awareness. You will also be guided through a combination of mindfulness practices including yoga- meditation and breathing.The idea is to give you a variety of different skills to manage stress- reduce anxiety and most importantly- have fun! Each week will have a different theme- and a variety of creative ways for you to find more ease and joy in your day to day life at home. You will be working with two facilitators- Natascha and Laura.Natascha Flowers is a qualified yoga teacher- social worker- trauma counsellor and actor. Natascha has facilitated a range of creative- movement-based and mental health groups. As a social worker and counsellor- Natascha has worked with people experiencing homelessness- refugees and asylum seekers- people with disabilities- people impacted by eating and body image concerns and survivors of child abuse and complex trauma. She teaches yoga regularly- and has completed training in teaching yoga for trauma- mental health and body image- as well as accessible- body positive yoga. Natascha offers a warm- inclusive and encouraging approach to everyone she works with. She is committed to creating a supportive and safe space in all her work.Laura Hart is a qualified mental health first aider. She has been performing for over fifteen years. She has worked creatively with not for profit organisations such as Camp Quality- The Starlight Children's Foundation- Ted Noffs and Milkcrate Theatre. Laura is a 2017 Young Social Pioneer with the Foundation for Young Australians - developing and sharing her improv comedy program for people with anxiety. Laura has trained at Improv Theatre Sydney- Impro Australia and the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Communications from Charles Sturt University with a major in Theatre and Media. Laura is particularly interested in how improvisation and mental wellbeing intersect. She sees humour as a tool to build resilience- and uses improv as a mindfulness practice. Laura is a member of the ITS faculty and ensemble- and the company's Outreach- Diversity & Inclusion Officer.This workshop is supported by the Foundation for Young Australians. Participants must be aged between 18 - 30.

Walking basketball program 2020
Walking Basketball is a low-impact- social and fun way to improve the levels of physical activity for inactive and slightly active people- including those recovering from injury.The program provides optimal health benefits to all who participate- including those who might be intimidated by the pace and impact of a traditional basketball game but love the slower- more social version of Walking Basketball. Session are 60 minutes and will involve a warm up- skill based drills and 'game play'.
