My Two Lives 2020
96 year old Holocaust survivor Lotte Weiss survived Auschwitz- but was the only one of her family to survive. As a young girl she lost everything but managed to go on to live a meaningful life. She has devoted many years as a volunteer at the Sydney Jewish Museum- telling her story to thousands of student and adult visitors.In this online talk- Lotte's sons- Gary and Johnny- will tell us more about her miraculous and heartbreaking story of survival.We will also screen a short film made by Sarita Gold- which profiles Lotte and her daughter in-law and artist Thea Weiss. Thea has produced multimedia artworks inspired by Lotte's story. The short film has won a number of awards and has been selected as a finalist for the Moscow Jewish Film Festival and as a semi-finalist for the Rhodes Film Festival. Yad Vashem has also requested it for their collection to accompany Thea's work- presented to them a few years ago.

For over 150 years it has been the seat of local government and a venue for wide-ranging events - from concerts and speech nights to balls and political rallies. It has welcomed heads of state and government- been the stage for Lady Gaga and the setting for Australia's Federation banquet.In this 1-hour talk- Margaret will showcase the architecture- interiors- history and unique stories of this much loved landmark building. There will also be opportunities to share your own memories of Sydney Town Hall and what the building means to you.Margaret BetteridgeMargaret manages the City of Sydney Civic Collection and is passionate about Sydney Town Hall. Oh snap! WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is scaling and tailing up your Halloween celebrations this year with a deliciously wicked pop-up CROCtail Bar inside an underground Crocodile Den. That's right- inside a crocodile den with an actual crocodile.Just a piece of (sturdy and thick) glass will stand between you and the Darling Harbour zoo's mammoth Saltwater Crocodile. His name is Rocky- he is over 4m long and weighs at least 365kg! Don't get on his bad side!Upon arrival- guests will be greeted with a free drink and a rare hands-on reptile encounter (snake or lizard).It's then on to find an allocated seat to order some tasty tapas and cocktails aka CROCtails made by mobile bar company Trolley'd using locally and responsibly sourced native and wild foraged ingredients such as roasted wattle- urban beehive honey and Illawarra Plum Vodka.The evening kicks on when the WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo team emerge for a Croc Talk and there may even be the chance to watch Rocky feed! Tickets are $15 per person and include a free beer or house wine on arrival. Plus $5 from each ticket sold will be donated to the WILD LIFE Conservation Fund supporting animal research- conservation and welfare.Seating is limited with only 13 spots available per session in the Croc Den and 38 in the Upper Viewing Deck.
