The Sydney Connection conducts weekly inner-city dining walks of Surry Hills- Darlinghurst and Potts Point.Accompanied by our Owner-Operator Maree Sheehan a well-connected local guide- our walks are aimed at visitors and Sydneysiders who want to go 'where the locals go' for inspiring food- good service and cool interiors.We offer our guests the chance to experience Sydney's fabulous small bar culture and dine at three different inner-city Sydney restaurants in one evening. If you're a local looking for a new perspective on our fine city this is the perfect experience.For visitors- it's a great opportunity if you are only spending a short time in Sydney and want to gain an understanding of our food culture and night time vibe. Positioned on a tree-lined street edged by cycle paths next to the latest in modern architecture juxtaposed by grand Victorian terraces dressed in filigree and greenery. With cuisines from Italy- France and the Middle East we are spoilt for choice in this part of inner-city Sydney.The main streets of this precinct are a mix of commercial and residential buildings. Jarin Street began by recognising the misuse of Aboriginal art and the industry's failure to protect the artists and Aboriginal designs- as well as a failure to highlight the artists themselves. It was also born out of wanting to create a pathway for all people to connect to Aboriginal artists and story through wellbeing in a way that was respectful and appropriately honours Aboriginal culture. We aim to provide ongoing ethical and sustainable support to the artists who contribute their work on your yoga mats and soon to come - ACTIVE WEAR. The Ankali Project provide training for volunteers interested in supporting socially isolated people.Once training is complete- as a volunteer- you'll be matched with a socially isolated client- living with HIV.As a volunteer- you'll provide community access- and social and emotional support as a friend. This could include going to cafes- the movies- art galleries- dinners - you name it!You'll be supported with establishing healthy client boundaries as the relationship progresses.As a volunteer- you'll attend a fortnightly support group to debrief and receive support from other volunteers.The Ankali Project Social Work staff is also there to support you- every step of the way.Since 1985- The Ankali Project has trained more than 2000 volunteers. You'll join volunteers from all walks of life- but have the time and commitment to make a difference in the life of someone else.If you have any questions about the service model- or the commitment- please make contact.We're a NSW Health-funded service- as a division of the larger clinical- multi-disciplinary Albion Centre.
