Corin Ileto is an electronic producer, composer and performer working in the field of performance art, sound design, theatre and club spaces. In her compositions, traditional forms merge with hyper-digital sounds to create new imaginary realms. Coming from a background in classical piano, Ileto is interested in creating a sonic space in which western classical music can be hybridised with contemporary electronic music production and non-western music forms. Each of her releases focuses on a new speculative mythology, drawing from science fiction, western classical music, personal histories and ancestral myths derived from her Filipino heritage.
Recent albums include Enantiodromia (2021), a dance album merging IDM, EBM and trance released on Lee Gamble's UIQ imprint and Araw (2021), a selection of long-form ambient synth improvisations. As a composer, Ileto works across a broad range of mediums including video art, film, audioguides, documentaries and theatre work. Recent commissions include composition for Justin Shoulder's forthcoming performance work AEON†, a work fusing Filipinx myth, puppetry and queer pageantry as ceremony (premiere Liveworks Festival 2020, Sydney Biennale 2020). And also sound composition for 'Sky Blue Mythic', a performance work by Angela Goh exploring dance as a non-human entity (premiered at Sydney Opera House in 2021).
For her performance at Phoenix Central Park, CORIN will perform piano adaptations of songs from her forthcoming album, merging textural soundscapes, granular synthesis together with improvised piano.
N.B. There are two sittings for this event: 6:30pm & 8:15pm
Tickets are free and will be allocated by ballot.
