Industrial designer Caren Elliss and ceramic artist Alison Smiles present a new body of work which explores the joyful potential of the crafted/design object.

Like many great collaborations, Elliss (industrial designer) and Smiles (ceramic artist) come together in the spirit of concept, experimentation and play. Partners in life and practice, they bring contrasting positions on design and technique to a shared interest in exploring new technologies and applying them to contemporary art, craft and design. Specifically, the artists have examined domestic furniture and objects using 3D printing, CNC, laser cutting and mould making, together with the hand made.

This project was generously supported by the Government of South Australia's Arts recovery grant.
