Sydney's beloved youth dance festival expands with exciting dance film content unearthing the finest young dance artists from Sydney and beyond. The festival provides a rare opportunity for aspiring choreographers, dancers and film makers to display their talents and creativity in a supportive environment. Active youth participation is encouraged in all genres and traditions of dance and media.
The festival features more than fifty dance films created by young dancers and choreographers 21 years and under. All works are presented on FORM's website where audiences are invited to participate in voting for their favourite work.
Winning works are eligible for awards including Most Innovative Choreography, Outstanding Male and Female Dancer, Outstanding Solo Performance, Outstanding Duet Performance, Outstanding Ensemble Performance, Audience Choice Award, Outstanding Dance Film Award sponsored by AFTRS and for the first time the Regional Dance Film Award sponsored by Cowra Civic Centre.
Finalists are also eligible for valuable industry secondment with Legs on the Wall, Sydney Dance Company PPY, Catapult Dance, Austinmer Dance Theatre and Academy of Music and Performing Arts.
"As always outstanding dance and now looking new and sharp via a livestream. Enjoying it immensely. So diverse - the dance world and the world through dance before our eyes. Congratulations." Robert Love AM (Sharp Short Dance Goes Digital 2020)
