Straight Ahead is an 18 piece big band directed by saxophonist/arranger Paul Millard featuring a fantastic line-up of Perth jazz musicians and vocalists. The band repertoire includes arrangements from all major eras including the 40's Swing era through to contemporary jazz, blues, latin, funk and original compositions. The band takes pleasure in presenting for the Jazz Club of WA the big band classics of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson and more. The set list will include iconic standards such as Satin Doll, Opus One and Four Brothers and the swinging vocal hits of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble such as Pennies From Heaven, Sway and That's Life. The band will also feature a bright new vocal talent as a special guest during the night. Saxes - Paul Millard, Alistair McEvoy, Marc Osborne, Steve Searle, Lee Buddle. Trumpets - Mark Underwood, Benn Hodgkin, Rob Bresland, Pierson Snowsill. Trombones - Anthony Dodos, Catherine Noblet, Sam Hadlow, Bill McAllister. Piano - Mike Nelson. Guitar - Kristian Borring.
