Cor Novis is the heart of Strange. Every year Cor Novis hosts a sculpture for the duration of the festival.

For 2024, Enkidu will remain in place throughout Strange, allowing the public to make offerings and pay homage to this fallen hero before his immolation during the live performance of 'The Epic of Gilgamesh' on closing night.

The Epic of Gilgamesh

Prepare to be swept away by the primal energies of noise artists Injured Ninja and an orchestra of Perth's most talented musicians as their performance of ancient literary legend The Epic of Gilgamesh. Mad Max meets Neo-Mesopotamia as the Epic immerses you in a world of myth and music, featuring multiple drum kits and a fleet of percussionists that will fill the air with calamitous rhythm.

Step into the heart of Perth city as Forest Chase transforms into a realm of dystopian myth on the closing night of Strange 2024! We invite you to witness a spectacle like no other as we pay homage to Enkidu, the companion of the God-King Gilgamesh, with a celebratory funeral pyre.

Gilgamesh brings together artists and members from renowned Boorloo bands including Tangled Thoughts of Leaving, Mathas, Selfless Orchestra, and many more, showcasing the best of Perth's musical talent.
