The purpose of this briefing is to update on Tech Central's upcoming priorities and plans for 2022, key activities from our partners in the precinct and start the conversation about how you and your organisation can shape the future of innovation in Tech Central going forward. This briefing is presented in partnership with the Tech Central Alliance.
The briefing is split up into 3 parts:
Walking Tour - In person (3pm- 3:45pm)
We have an exciting opportunity to take a maximum of 30 people on a brief walking tour of the Camperdown Health Education Research Precinct. The tour will occur prior to the Tech Central Quarterly Briefing, and will be led by Scott Andrews, Director of Heritage, and Environment at Sydney Local Health District. During this tour, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of Australia's Premier Hospital (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and its future $750 million redevelopment, the 140-year partnership between the Hospital with the University of Sydney and see the proposed site for the new Sydney Biomedical Accelerator complex.
2. Briefing and Q&A - In person and online (4pm-5:30 pm)
You will get an update on a number of Tech Central's key work-streams including: economic strategy, digital enablement of the district, place-making, sustainability, business attraction and governance. You'll also hear from our key partners including: City of Sydney, the Department for Transport, Stone and Chalk and Sydney Local Health District.
3. Networking, light refreshments and showcase - In person (5:30pm - 6:30 pm)
Stay for networking and light refreshments and enjoy our showcase! You'll have the opportunity to see:
3D printed surgical robot:
The 3D printed robot is of the da Vinci Robot Xi in RPA Surgical & Robotic Training Institute. RPA is one of the only public tertiary referral hospitals in Australia with a da Vinci Xi surgical robot. The surgical robot allows surgeons to work with greater precision, using less invasive incisions, resulting in better outcomes and improved patient recovery times.
Healthcare themed sculptures:
Kai Cheng, the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery's Surgical Innovation Research Manager is collaborating with Sydney-based artist, Simon Fieldhouse on a range of patient and healthcare themed 3D sculptures. This collaboration explores a novel method of designing, creating, and showcasing art with finite details and a compelling story-telling capacity. The sculptures of surgeons, patients, surgical robots, and clinical support staff deliver a wonderful story around the patient journey, promote advanced technology in public healthcare and demonstrate the culture of excellence at RPA.
