Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer or powdered gold. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Humans are also susceptible to being broken, traumatised and tarnished (emotionally and physically) but it's the scars that make us stronger and resilient - perhaps more human. This talk will shine a light on the art and philosophy of Kintsugi, and the power of embracing the world's scars through acceptance, growth and resilience. Speakers include Sally Capp (Lord Mayor of Melbourne), Rone (artist and creator), Patrycja Slawuta (Happiness Hacker), Thomas Mayor, Steven Persson and Ronni Kahn (Oz Harvest).
