The Bookplate Art Project is a participatory art project designed to strengthen connections between artists, Brisbane City Council libraries and the community. A selection of commissioned Brisbane artists, along with the wider creative community, will create mini-bookplate artworks inspired by stories and books. These artworks will be placed in books to be discovered by Brisbane City Council library book borrowers between July and September 2024.
Brisbane artists are invited to participate. You could be an emerging or established artist, an illustrator, designer or a keen hobbyist. We encourage you to have a go and make a postcard size artwork inspired by books or stories. Let's work together to make something special for the community.
If you're a library book borrower, keep an eye out for a bookplate artwork hidden inside one of your library books from commissioned artists and the creative community. Primarily, you'll likely find these bookplate artworks at Corinda Library. If you find an artwork, remember it's finders keepers or you can leave it for the next borrower to discover!
Follow our socials to see artist contributions to the project on Instagram @hometurf.art and Facebook @hometurfart. For more information on the Bookplate Art Project or to register to participate as a volunteer artist, visit www.hometurfart.com.
The Bookplate Art Project is proudly supported by the Creative Sparks Grant Program. The Creative Sparks Grant Program is an initiative of Brisbane City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
The Bookplate Art Project is proudly presented by Home Turf Art.
