FTC is thrilled to present an incredible piece of theatre - THE EFFECT by Lucy Prebble from the co-executive producer and writer of HBO's SUCCESSION!
A study of new pharma, depression & the most dangerous chemical: Love.
Two volunteers on a drugs trial begin to develop some strange attractions in Lucy Prebble's love-sceptical play. THE EFFECT takes on the subject of antidepressants, their importance, our need for them and the consequences of chemical design; all examined via the taut gauntlet of a human drug-trial.
We know little about them all before the trial, and they even less about each other. But it's clear that a spark has ignited between them - Is it the drugs? Or their own personal chemistry? And how could either of them tell the difference?
This amazing, award-winning work will be directed by PIPPA GRANDISON, leading a truly powerful cast including CARLA BONNER, as the head of our drug-trial, 'Dr Lorna James'. Carla is a very familiar face to Aussie and International audience, after nineteen years on Neighbours as the beloved 'Stephanie Scully'. As well as a starring turn on STAN in the popular prison drama Wentworth. She joins breakout talent CAITLIN ASHLEY THOMPSON (Scream: The TV Series on Netflix/Paramount+, and the CW's Supernatural), alongside ADAM SOLLIS (Home & Away, TV's Cloudstreet and Stormworld) and OLIVER WENN (The Sapphires national tour, Packed To The Rafters, Top Of the Lake).
