Between August 16-30, Together We Read invites anyone with a library card to borrow Australian author Kirsty Manning's wonderfully received novel 'The Paris Mystery', as an e-book or audiobook, and join Australia's biggest annual online book club. All you need to take part is a library card and the Libby app for digital borrowing.

The Together We Read digital book club connects readers through Australian public libraries with a featured title for two weeks each year. During the program, readers can participate in online discussions about the title as well as an online event with the author. Ben Hobson will be in-conversation with Kirsty Manning to discuss her novel for this event. It will be hosted on Zoom on Tuesday August 29, and the link will be sent to all attendees on the day of the event. Registration is via Eventbrite.

During the Together We Read period, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions, interact with the authors, and enjoy a well-rounded bookish discussion.

About the Title

As Australian journalist Charlotte (Charlie) James alights at the Gare du Nord, ready to start her role as correspondent for The Times, she steps into a city in turmoil as war becomes increasingly likely. Charlie is chasing her first big scoop and quickly makes contact with local expats Lord and Lady Ashworth to aid her connections in the new city.

It is at the Ashworth's highly anticipated and extravagant circus party on the summer solstice eve that Charlie James is thrown into a new world of Parisian society accustomed to sumptuous parties, couture fashion, bohemian wine bars and plenty of secrets. Celebrations are brought to an abrupt halt as a chilling scream rings out and the body of a prominent guest is discovered. Charlie is determined to unravel exactly what happened and finds herself leading her own murder investigation to follow the clues and untangle Paris' elite connections and secrets…

In this magnificent new beginning to the joyful Charlie James series, Manning beguiles with glamour and mystery set in a Paris of great upheaval and uncertainty.
