For over 150 years it has been the seat of local government and a venue for wide-ranging events - from concerts and speech nights to balls and political rallies. It has welcomed heads of state and government- been the stage for Lady Gaga and the setting for Australia's Federation banquet.In this 1-hour talk- Margaret will showcase the architecture- interiors- history and unique stories of this much loved landmark building. City of Sydney Library is proud to host the third annual Microflix Festival- celebrating short films and the stories which inspired them.Whether you're a film buff- a lover of literature or a budding filmmaker- join us online to experience this exciting showcase of contemporary Australian storytelling through film. Enjoy live panel discussions- film screenings- the awards ceremony and a filmmaking workshop over 3 days.You will have an opportunity to read the stories and vote on your favourite- here from October 12. Then join us for the awards night to find out how filmmakers working in COVID-19 restrictions have brought them to life on screen.Events includeAdaptation Symposium: 7.30pm-9pm- Thursday 29 OctoberJoin a live panel of industry experts- authors and filmmakers to explore the nuts and bolts of adapting micro-fiction to micro-films. Panelists include micro-literature expert- Cassandra Atherton- scriptwriting teacher- Craig Batty- filmmaker- Rachel Landers and scriptwriter- Alana Valentine . Perhaps you're not sure how to go about it the right way- or you aren't sure about which editing software to use?Whether you are putting together your first short film or uploading a vlog to Youtube- this online editing workshop will provide beginner video editors with the basics for taking videos to the next level.In this hands-on workshop- with experienced film editor- Jordan Swioklo you will learn the basics of editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. You can get creative by using different transitions- adding simple effects- titles and soundtracks. You will also learn key information about how to import and set up your project correctly- file types- file size and how to export your final cut.No prior knowledge of editing is needed but basic computer skills will be assumed. Participants are encouraged to come ready with their own footage and any music tracks they wish to use. Royalty-free film footage and soundtracks will also be available for use- if requested prior to the workshop. Participants are also required to have Adobe Premiere Pro installed and working on their computer prior to the workshop.
