Join us this February to celebrate the Year of the Ox
Celebrate Lunar New Year with a calendar of festive events and activities for all ages, including family-friendly creative workshops, activity trails around the museum and Mandarin tours around the best of the museum's attractions. Entry to all activities is included in the See It All admissions tickets. Members FREE.
Mandarin Speaking Tours | 12 - 21 February | 11am
The museum will be offering Chinese language guided tours of the museum's main galleries, exhibitions, and attractions. To be delivered in Mandarin, the tour will feature a visit to Captain Cook's Endeavour replica as well as highlights of the museum's compelling exhibitions.
The tour will last for around 30 minutes and is included with any paid admission. There is limited capacity so please check tour availability upon your arrival to the museum.
Lunar Maker Space | Sunday 14 and 21 February | 11am - 3pm
Celebrate Lunar New Year with creative family-friendly workshops inspired by traditional stories and mythological maritime creatures. Craft a lunar lantern or a dragon kite. Use Chinese paper cutting techniques to make your own amazing artwork and learn watercolour brush calligraphy.
45-minute workshops, included in any paid admission and free for members. There is limited capacity, please check availability upon arrival to the museum.
Lunar Seas Activity Trail & Lucky Dip Prize packs | Every day from 12 - 21 February
Adventure around the museum with our Lunar Seas activity trail - inspired by Lunar animals and constellations that feature in the museum's collection. Complete your trail to receive a lucky dip pack filled with creative activities and a prize from the museum store.
Free to all museum visitors, recommended to children aged 4-12.
Important information: We are a Covid-19 safe environment. To keep visitors, staff and volunteers as safe as possible we have made changes to how we operate. Including following social distancing guidelines and frequent routine cleaning is undertaken to ensure the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Find out more.
